You are quoting the definition of "Extra fields".  I am referring to the 
later discussion in the debian-project mailinglist.

Even when using r135 of DEP5 you can arguably avoid leading X- simply by 
considering your fields not as "extra" ones but "proposed" ones (as 
their format are not defined nor forbidden).
