sidenote: i have to find a way to use UTF-8 throughout; somehow ISO-8859
keeps kreeping back....

aye. added GPL-2+ boilerplate, link to /usr/share/common/licenses and pused.
seems i was so busy playing around with copyright_hints, that i
completely forgot to actually include the license itself...

anyhow, now that i have run lintian in pedantic/... mode, i have also
