Just an "administrivia" response that this problem is on our bugzilla:
http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176 

and no patch was attached to the message sent, so I've attached it here. 

Also to note that for Windows and Mac, almost all users will be reliant
on the FFmpeg installer we provide (which is 0.5 at present).

Hopefully LRN who developed the FFmpeg feature in Audacity will 
comment about this when he gets a chance.
