Note that this is 'libav-extra'. The purpose of this package to enable
libraries, that cause the binaries to be licensed under GPLv3. This
voids license incompatibilities with GPLv2 packages that do not give the
option to upgrade to GPLv3.

Please, tell me if you intend to review and work on the branch. I think
it should be good enough for experimental, so I'd like to upload it soon
to Debian.
