Thank you for this insight.

Note that this isn't what the original reporter requested. If he wanted
Mplayer Bug #2019 to be fixed in Debian, then it would have made more
sense to specifically describe the bug at hand. Jidanni, feel free to
file an additional, more specific bug. But for now, let's keep on using
this bug number for tracking the update of the mplayer package to a
higher upstream version.

Reimar, speaking of the mplayer patches in the motumedia PPA, I do
intend to forward them to the mplayer-devel mailing list properly
[1]. It's just that a) I wanted to make sure that they actually work and
b) I'm terribly short on time for the rest of this year and I just
didn't manage to find the time to properly beat them into shape and
submit them upstream, yet. But I will eventually get to this, so stay
tuned.
