Dear Maintainer,

I am seeing the same effect as the original reporter on a "stock Debian
wheezy" without any foreign libraries. This behaviour appeared without
any warning that a feature was going to be removed, so I suspect that
it wasn't intentional.

If there's anything I can do to nail down this bug further feel free
to ask.
