Upgrade chain for multimedia still messed up-- Wheezy

Hi again we are having similar problems with the multimedia packages in
Wheezy based systems at our installation--- basically a problem where
the upgrade (full-upgrade) in aptitude seems to be jumbled forcing
removal of gnome desktop minitube arista miro gstreamer and other
packages depending upon the exact system set up.  It seems to be a
problem with the way the update system is set up. We cannot even use
packages from sid to solve it in this case because they are the same
number-- also when we try to then go in and add back in force-removed
packages we cannot because it requires removal of things like gnome and
many other multimedia and other packages. We are making an effort to fix
by carefully going through each and every package and trying different
options but this process is causing a lot of problems and audio is one
of our biggest problem including microphones not working and/or having
added clicks and tones(I know you can turn off left/right and other
measures-- why are these not the default? it keeps resetting after
updates)--- and now other things like the sound frozen at a very low
level despite sliders being turned up.

Here is one example aptitude full-upgrade default-- other systems have
similar results even newly built wheezy stations:
