Just a comment, I've noticed that the buildlog exhibits *a lot* of
compiler warnings, including a large number of deprecation warnings
for using obsoleted APIs. This includes not only the libavcodec API,
but also other's. I also noticed that the latest news entry on the
upstream website http://tcforge.berlios.de/ dates from May 2010 (and
ironically was a request for help).
These observation make me worry about the sustainability of this
package. I'm happy to port it to Libav 0.8, which will drop again a
lot of deprecated APIs, but in case someone is really interested in
transcode, I think this would be a grateful and rewarding upstream
project to pick up.
In the other news, transcode is currently in NEW, which according to
Fabian's analysis of dmo's dependency tree allows us to package a
number of additional packages.
