For Cycles to be enabled, OpenImageIO library is mandatory... but we 
don't have OIIO in Debian repositories, at the moment.
So, if it's really good stuff that you miss so much, please file a RFP 
bug[1] to see OIIO packaged and we'll be very happy to add Cycles 
support to Blender.
