It may have been a bad idea to close this bug report ("mp4v2: Please 
bring back metadata API") via a "New upstream release" changelog 
stanza. The new upstream release does *not* bring back the deprecated 
API, but the issue has been fixed in the depending software (i.e. 
FAAC) meanwhile (i.e. between the mp4v2 release this bug was filed 
against and 2.0.0).
