Bug#661418: no audio in alsa

Hi, I have the same problem, no sound in alsa. The command line says

[0x7f2f8400c308] alsa audio output error: unknown 26 channels configuration
[0x7f2f8400c308] oss audio output error: cannot open audio device (/dev/dsp)
[0x7f2f8400c308] main audio output error: no suitable audio output module
[0x7f2f84000d08] main decoder error: failed to create audio output

I use a RME Hammerfall DSP 9652, it's a pro audio card with 26 i/o channels. All other programs simply use the first
2 outputs, which is fine and what vlc should do.
