First of all, thanks a lot for your prompt reply!
It's really appreciated, believe me.

Please help me: how can I obtain a backtrace?

I suppose I should install gnome-mplayer-dbg and libglib2.0-0-dbg.
Then I should have gnome-mplayer run inside gdb, but how?
Should I run the entire iceweasel within gdb?
Or what else?

I have just (re-)read the HowToGetABacktrace wiki page [1], but it does
not seem to talk about getting backtraces for programs invoked by
browser plugins...
