Thanks for this report, unfortunately I can totally confirm that. I
became aware about this issue a few days after uploading it to
experimental (and after that it was a few days in NEW). We fixed that
problem in git master only to find out that there have been other ABI
breakages with AVOption handling. In the end, the SONAME of libavutil
will very likely be bumped to 52 before the 0.9 final release.

For now, I can only recommend to downgrade to libavutil51 from
unstable and set it on hold for now.
