vlc after pausing and replaying doesn't play audio

Thank you Fabian for replying.

This is what it tells when I run that command :-

$ which vlc
/usr/bin/vlc

Then I tried to find the source :-

$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/vlc
vlc-nox: /usr/bin/vlc

and then see which version of vlc-nox is installed at my end.

$ dpkg -l vlc-nox
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name                    Version          Architecture     Description
+++-=======================-================-================-===================================================
ii  vlc-nox                 2.0.4-1          amd64
multimedia player and streamer (without X support)

Any more or other ideas are welcome.
