I may have misidentified the package, sorry.
xserver-xorg-video-intel seems to be the package containing the
i915_drv_video.so driver, but Synaptic Package Manager does not show it as
one of the "installed files".

i965-va-driver 1.0.17-1 package is installed, but not used since that driver
does not seem to support the (lesser) Intel 82865G Graphics Controller.
I only started installing the experimental packages after encountering this
issue and reportbug notified that there are newer versions of 
i915_drv_video.so.

Another reassign & retitle?
