I had a look at the log from #699394 and the following bits look
suspicious:

GMLIB-Message: current size = 416 x 1
GMLIB-Message: Changing window size to 400 x 304 visible = true
GMLIB-Message: trying to disable screensaver
GMLIB-Message: current size = 0 x 0
GMLIB-Message: Changing window size to 400 x 304 visible = true

So let me ask you some questions: does this also happen with mplayer2?
Is there anything special about your windows manager and/or desktop
environment?
