gnutls28 for wheezy-backports - dependency of VLC

Hi,

I'm currently looking into getting vlc 2.1 into wheezy-backports.
Currently I'm stuck with gnutls28, which is in jessie but not in
wheezy. According to vlc's configure.ac file, version >= 3.0.20 is
required.

Would having gnutls28 in wheezy-backports be something feasible to do?
Does the backports team have concerns regarding this? Maybe anyone has
already started looking into that?

Anyone willing to look into that? I might do myself at some later
point, but I'd really appreciate if someone could comment on that.
