The new text is not compliant with copyright format 1.0 whereas the old 
one was.

Please read the definition of the format (it is a fine text, referenced 
at first line of the file).

Please do *not* vlindly trust automated tools to fully produce a 
reliable copyright file: It _must_ be humanly proof-read.

Above implies version 1 (and only 1) of GPL, which is _very_ rare.

If you are certain that is correct, I suspect the licensing terms are at 
high risk of clashing with some of the others, and we might need to 
either rip out corresponding code or convince upstream to relicense.

Are you sure about above change?  I mean, if that is what upstream 
shipped then that _is_ the correct to reproduce (we should reproduce 
_verbatim_ so are not allowed to even correct typos).
