Package: vlc
Version: 2.1.5-1
Architecture: i386
Severity: wishlist

To reproduce:
1. Play any video in vlc
2. Pause playback
3. (optional) iconify VLC
4. strace -f -p `pgrep -x vlc`

Expected: Process blocked waiting for messages from X server.
(Similar to what happens when vlc is stopped.)
Observed: Huge amounts of activity.

To minimize laptop power, it really would be nice if VLC sould
avoid unnecessary wakeups. It's only 0.3% CPU, but it burns battery
power.
