For people interested in working around the problem:

sudo apt-get install python3-dev
git clone git at github.com:kfoltman/calfbox.git
cd calfbox
sudo python3 setup.py install


As a side note, python3-liblo is required to avoid this warning:

/usr/share/laborejo/laborejoqt/laborejoqtnsmclient.py:35: UserWarning:
PyLiblo for Python3 not found. Session support not possible. If you did not
want Non Session Manager support ignore this message
  warn("PyLiblo for Python3 not found. Session support not possible. If you
