to simplify work with upstream .gitignore file would by very welcome.
In many cases is only reason for repacking.
I'm not sure which approach is technically best,
but "Files-Excluded stanza in d/copyright *without* warranting a
"~repack" suffix"
seam to be easiest and totally acceptable for me.
Of course if git-import-orig would ignore upstream .gitignore file it
would be even better.
