I tested on a standard wheezy machine and I didn't encounter the issue
you faced.

Weird that nobody else using the same version reported that problem.
So probably it's really a singular behaviour on your system.
Have you tried to test the same configuration on a different machine?
Maybe it has something to deal with the graphics of the failing
machine.
