It would … we would not that it's fixed in some version. Then someone could go
and look at the changes between the stable and the unstable version and check
which change might have fixed the issue.

Yes, please. chroot or another machine or a VM for testing are fine. I would
test it myself, but I can't reproduce the issue in the first place.
