sure.
i did not mean "please run `sed -e 's|^\(Standards-Version:\) .*|\1
3.9.7|' -i debian/control`", but instead "make sure that your package
conforms to the current standards"

i don't that these are mutually exclusive.

For me, standards-version IS an indicator that I have chased and
silenced lintian "noise", by veriyfing that my package follows a certain
revision of Policy.
