I'm calling that skew but I'm not sure it is the best term.

Same issue.

Works fine. Image not skewed, no crash.

Also works fine with vlc, as I said, and with firefox.

Is there 2 errors?

mplayer / libav crashing and the fact that this crash also crashes Xorg?
