When do you expect to start development of (VLC for) buster? I assume that 
will be after stretch is released, and that's still many months out. The 
original report asks to upload to experimental while stretch is frozen so it 
can be tested. VLC, as the only package, blocking people from installing 
(stable) mesa versions from experimental for multiple months doesn't look very 
nice to me.

I'm not in a position where I can easily compile/package my own vlc/mesa 
versions, so please upload a version of VLC to experimental with OpenGL ES 1 
support disabled.
