what do you mean with "not being compatible"?

in any case, it sounds like a bug in either mixxx, libportaudio or jackd1.

also nothing depends on jackd2 (or nothing but other jack packages
should depend directly on it). so should we retire it as well?

the current policy is that the user can chose to install either jackd1
OR jackd2, whatever fits their needs.
