To fix Debian bug #682792,
and launchpad bug #956438 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jackd2/+bug/956438 ,
please update the source to latest upstream.

As I don't have a good concept of when, how and if the bug was fixed, I can only tell from using the newer jackd2, that it's working as expected.

We at Ubuntu Studio would then like to update both 12.04 and 12.10 with a updated package.

I'm not sure that uploading a new upstream to unstable would be acceptable to the release team. However, if you could update our branch at http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-multimedia/jackd2.git, then I think we could upload it to experimental, which would allow you to sync it from there.
