Hello,
I finally figured that root access is disabled as a default. (I
believe it wasn't the case in previous version, but not sure.)
A user need to create a different user that he will be used to access
mysql from outside.
section of /usr/share/doc/mysql-server-5.0/README.Debian.gz should
include this sentence.
* Networking
.....................................
Root access is disabled from any address except for 127.0.0.1. User
should create a different user to log in from outside of 127.0.0.1 or
enable root user to login from @.
If you could update the readme.debian that would be great.
It took me almost 3 hours to figure out how to log in to mysql from
outside. If this information is in readme.debian next user will be up
and running in 1 minute.
Thanks a lot,
Lucas
