[debian-mysql] mysql.server start script

Hi

In order to start the mysql server with mysql instance manager
(mysqlmanager), I am looking, in debian packages, for the mysql.server
script, and I don't find it, or reference to it...

Apparently the only way to start the mysql server in debian is with
mysqld_safe. Am I wrong? This makes difficult to have several server
instances...

mysql.server is present in the mysql tarball (say, in
mysql-5.0.45-linux-i686-icc-glibc23.tar.gz, at
mysql-5.0.45-linux-i686-icc-glibc23/support-files/mysql.server).

Why is mysql.server not present in the debian packages? Security
issues? Am I missing something?

Many thanks.

Best regards,
José Sebrosa
