I'm sorry that I didn't respond any earlier to your reply. I've been 
really busy at work, and this bug slipped my mind.

I searched the MySQL bugreports some more, and came up with some reports 
that resemble this bug quite closely.

The latter describes this exact problem, and provides a fix: 
http://lists.mysql.com/commits/23104. It looks like this problem has 
definitely been fixed in MySQL 5.0.40.

We've already upgraded all of our servers to 5.0.45 a while ago, but I 
hope you can fix this bug in 5.0.32 for everyone that is sticking to stable.
