I'm wondering if we really should add unofficial feature patches to the
Debian MySQL packages, like this or the sphinx storage engine one.
Last weekend I thought about adding the microslow patch from Percona and
decided against it:
- Bugreports need to get reproduced with the unpatched source before
forwarding it to the MySQL BTS.
- Upgrading to a new MySQL upstream release needs additional work when
one of the patches doesn't work with the new MySQL release.
- We'll really get in trouble if one of these patches in a stable Debian
release will conflict with a security fix.
Other thoughts?
Norbert
