[debian-mysql] 5.1.24rc-1 backport to etch?

Is there a backport of the latest 5.1 to etch available?  Norbert, I
saw you had one up a while ago, but that directory on backports.org
appears to now be gone.  If not, has anyone tried building the
experimental package on etch?  Would it work?  I am debating between
trying that and just using the mysql binary tarball...ick
