[debian-mysql] Bug#555803: mysql-server install does not contain root mysql user

Package: mysql-server
Version: 5.0.51a-24+len

During of the installation of the package mysql-server the installation process asks for mysql's root password and then asks for confirmation. The
installation finished successfully but you can not login to mysql using mysql -u root -pthepasswordyouenteredduringinstallation. In fact the only user
that is present in mysql.user table is debian-sys-maint.

This behaviour seems somewhat strange since debian-sys-maint has a fixed password in /etc/mysql/debian.cnf which is different from what the user
specifies in the installation process. The password that is set by the user is not used anywhere.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.3, kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen
