[debian-mysql] Bug#548419: mysql-server-5.0: Split package (embedded vs. stand-alone server)

   Hi,

Has anything been done regarding this bug ?

mysql-server is installed on my laptop as a dependency for KDE4, but I
do not need a system-wide server running and increasing my boot time.
Therefore I disabled the /etc/init.d/mysql script (which IMHO an
end-user should not have to do).

I forgot about that until recently, when I started to receive these
reports from Mr. Cron :

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
error: error running shared postrotate script for '/var/log/mysql.log
/var/log/mysql/mysql.log /var/log/mysql/mysql-slow.log '
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

Apparently the postrotate script assumes that mysqld must be running.

Please, make it easier to have the mysqld binaries installed without a
stand-alone server running.

   Jérémie
