Well mysql-5.1 at least already has piuparts issues:
http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/fail/mysql-server-5.1_5.1.61-2.log

I would not be surprised if 5.5 does not have the same issue. that is a
different issue (install followed by purging) but still on the basis
that these scenarios need to be thought through I am confirming.
