I'm afraid you don't win any prizes for originality. I am merging this
with a bug report I regard as identical. There are actually four
products that share a lot of MySQL code: MySQL itself, MySQL cluster,
MariaDB and Percona. Obviously they all have their advocates and I don't
really see how Debian can pick just one.
The plan here for MariaDB and Percona is to just package the
server-core-5.5 part as drop in replacements but also to factor out
anything that can be across the four packages.
I am aware of three things in particular that can be factored out:
1.) management of the debian/copyright file
2.) some post packaging testing
3.) possibly certain other features of the packaging
We'll get round to this as soon as we can.
