[debian-mysql] Requesting change in priorities

Hi Akhil,
Agreed. I've been looking at what else we need for mysql-5.6 over the
last few days.
I have ported forward the Ubuntu delta that was present for mysql-5.5
that we still need - restoring #DEBHELPER# in mysql-server-5.6.postrm so
that dh_installinit and dh_apparmor can work, and adding the upstart job
and apport hook. I am still testing these. These patches would be
Ubuntu-only for now, although the missing #DEBHELPER# in the server
postrm is a bug (or at best some tech debt) that should be fixed in
Debian. I haven't managed to understand the exact reason this workaround
was put in in in the first place.
I'm not aware of anything else that needs to be brought forward from
mysql-5.5.
I've also ported forward my dep8 smoke test that was never applied
anywhere (just posted to the ML). This should go into Debian.
I get dep8 test failures for the upstream test suite when I run locally
- both against LXC and on KVM. Since this takes two hours to run,
iteration is very slow and so I'm leaving this for now. I wonder if you
could take a look at this, maybe? I just joined #debian-mysql so find me
on there perhaps, and I can help you reproduce the failure if you need?
So what's remaining right now for this is: 1) Test my deltas - I can
post my work in progress if you like; and 2) Move the binary common
binary packages (everything generated by mysql-5.5 that doesn't have 5.5
in it) over to being built from mysql-5.6 instead.
The swapping of all reverse dependencies from mysql-server to
virtual-mysql-server is a separate task.
Robie
