Both libmariadbclient18 and libmariadb2 has had symbols files for a long time:

However, the libmariadbclient18 was removed ultimately as a result of
Debian policy / developers not allowing the same library to be shipped
twice (both MySQL and MariaDB) so for the moment the MariaDB package
has neither .so file nor symbols file.
