Thanks, it is indeed an upstream problem. It seems perhaps as though the 
manpages were never updated since being forked from MySQL. As the delta 
between MySQL and MariaDB grows, it may be necessary to maintain the 
pages locally to MariaDB, documenting MariaDB-specific features where 
they might exist.
