Unfortunately, Debian 8 (jessie) will only have MySQL 5.5, so you'll have  
to wait for Debian 9 (stretch) to get anything newer. It's still not clear  
if stretch will have MySQL 5.6 or 5.7. 5.7 is not released yet, but it  
might be before the stretch freeze.

If you can't wait, there are upstream apt repos [1] you can use. We may  
also consider putting 5.6 in backports for jessie at some point.
