I hope that the summary is useful and that I've given everyone enough
time to read it before the IRC meeting this Wednesday. If you feel there
is any area where the summary is inaccurate, please could you raise it
before the meeting so that we can review in advance?

I hope I have explained well (first in the thread, and now also in the
summary) why I don't think any of the issues raised are (any more) valid
technical reasons to pick MySQL for removal from testing over MariaDB,
or even why one of them has to go at all. I refer you to my summary for
details.

I would still like the release team to make a decision based on
technical merit, because I think we're all agreed that this cannot keep
dragging on. Here are those options again:

1) We carry and ship both, which I believe is the preference of the
Debian MySQL Maintainers team by default since we do not agree to any
other option. We have representatives from both sides who are working
together and putting in the work to make this work technically.

2a) We carry both in unstable, but only MySQL in testing.

2b) We carry both in unstable, but only MariaDB in testing.

3a) We drop MariaDB completely, keeping only MySQL in unstable and
testing.

3b) We drop MySQL completely, keeping only MariaDB in unstable and
testing.

If you decide to depart from technical merit as a basis for making your
decision, please could you state what basis you are using?

Thanks,

Robie
