It appears that there is more interest in providing a backport of
MySQL 5.6[1]. I intend to upload the packages I built last week
to backports tomorrow; but I am more than happy for the MySQL
maintainers to get involved in the backporting effort if they would
prefer.

Of course, it will be for the backports FTP masters to rule on the
above question as part of NEW processing.
