Can you please report this upstream and get their opinion on this?
Or even make a pull request on https://github.com/codership/galera/issues ?

This package follows upstream very carefully and we don't have any
Debian-only patches around at the moment. If upstream thinks this is
correct, it would most likely be included in next upstream release.
