This was introduced by patch in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=917266
Reverted now in
https://salsa.debian.org/mariadb-team/mariadb-10.3/commit/71cada820618e00f88325c6e575ed5149eaa9455
