Looks we all got stuck somehow in the process I guess each waiting for
the other :)

Anyway to move forward: Can you propose please the changes to update
to the new upstream version *and* your proposed fixes (which all looks
sane IMHO to be included, in particular the FTBFS fixes should) for
the upcoming point release 9.9 for stretch?

It is aimed for the 27th april if I followed correctly (not yet
confirmed), the uploading window closing one week earlier, so there is
enough time right now.
