Hello!

Thanks for your contribution. I've submitted it at
https://salsa.debian.org/mariadb-team/mariadb-10.5/-/merge_requests/1
and will see if the CI finds any regressions due to these changes.

To me the changes look good. I did not know
https://wiki.debian.org/BuildProfileSpec#Build-Depends_syntax_extension_.28restriction_formulas.29
exists, but now I do :)

The patch did not apply so I manually made the same changes with small
fine tuning.

$ git apply mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff
mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff:4: trailing whitespace.
mariadb-10.5 (1:10.5.8-3.1) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium
mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff:5: trailing whitespace.

mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff:6: trailing whitespace.
  * Non-maintainer upload.
mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff:7: trailing whitespace.
  * Reduce Build-Depends: (Closes: #-1)
mariadb-10.5_10.5.8-3.1.debdiff:8: trailing whitespace.
    + chrpath is not used at all.
error: patch failed: debian/changelog:1
error: debian/changelog: patch does not apply
error: patch failed: debian/control:4
error: debian/control: patch does not apply
