Thanks for reporting this!

According to https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-36026 it applies to
all versions of MariaDB in Debian.

The regression does not seem serious enough for upstream to make an
emergency release. It is probably safest for us in Debian to follow
the upstream releases, unless a lot of people start reporting this
issue.
