i like the idea of splitting up the nagios-plugins into
nagios-plugins-foo, but i don't see what advantage providing a virtual
package would give. if nagios would be useful with any or none of
the plugins packages, it shouldn't be a depends. if it's not a
depends, then there's no need for a virtual package.
perhaps one example that would accomplish this is to have a
nagios-plugins-base, which would contain only plugins that have no
additional dependencies outside of a base debian system. nagios-foo
could then depend on this as the basic set of useful plugins
(check_disk, check_tcp, check_ping, et c), and the other plugins
could then be splintered off into special purpose packages and
included as a suggests.
of course, this is all talking about a package not officially being
maintained by this group at this point... though its maintainer
*is* on this list.
