this is fixed in the version of nagios currently in sid (2:1.3-0+pre6),
which should make its way into sarge in the next few days.  basically,
the maintainer script is getting information on what webservers nagios
uses from debconf, and not checking to see if they (or more specifically
their httpd.conf's) actually exist.

anyway, glad to see that you were able to work around it in the
meantime :)
